High Tea Session at Arteastique Cafe - Cafe Hopping

This weekend, I am having a special high tea session with my ex-colleague. One of a pleasure of living in Singapore is having a huge selection of different cafes to hop to! So I think, why not looking to some unique cafe to have a high tea session.

After browsing through some list of cafes, I finally discover this unique gem at Orchard Road area, located at one of the shopping mall which I had never entered before. Funny tho', after so many times passing by the building, only this time eventually do I enter it. By the way, the shopping mall name is Mandarin Gallery.

Judging from the cafe's website (http://www.arteastiq.com/) the place looks pretty great, so I decide to try this cafe for the meet up.

This cafe has quite a range selection of different tea. They also have some range of food menu, although not as much as their tea. If you notice the promotion board in front of the cafe, we are actually decided to try that menu, the 'Afternoon Treat Special'. It is meant for 2 people and includes a free selection of tea for each person, with price of 48 SGD instead of 52 SGD by normal price.

The 'Afternoon Treat Special' consists of crispy wrap with meat (able to select the meat choice preference), smoked salmon, smoked turkey ham, crab meat salad served with volvant, spicy jumbo top shell with chilled mango salad, and cake (choice selection between apple cake or orange cake). For the tea selection, both of us decides to take lychee tea, both hot and cold.

I especially like the crispy wrap (we choose to have the wrap with smoked chicken breast), the crab meat salad food, the spicy jumbo top shell, and the cake (apple cake selection). Smoke salmon taste pretty great too, though I am not a fan of raw salmon meat, I can still say this salmon taste quite good. As for the smoked turkey ham, I think it tastes pretty usual.

Both of me and my friend really likes our lychee tea. I choose the hot tea and she chooses the cold tea. The sweetness and the aroma of the lychee blends a splendid taste for the tea. Highly recommended to try for those fruit tea lover out there! The tea comes with cookies for each. For my friend, she got lemon butter cookies, and I got lemon chocolate cookies. The cookies tasted great as well, excellent combination for the tea. Perfect indulgence for a happy afternoon!

P.S, Arteastique actually has a painting studio just beside its cafe, so for those of you who wants to unleash your hidden artist potential, could practice it here!!

Enjoying High Quality Tea @TWG

I am simply a tea lovers. So coming to TWG is a perfect place to enjoy this!!
Here you could see all kinds of tea varieties which you would probably never find anywhere else.
TWG is a perfect choice to have an afternoon get together session with a high class feeling.

Not only tea varieties, TWG also offers companion food to compliment the tea, varieties from light to heavy food.
I personally loves their scones. A lot of time I came to TWG at any place, I always order scones as my tea companion.
I think scones compliment the good aroma of the tea. How about you?

Cheers!

Cafe Hopping Day - PoTeaTo

What a lovely day today in Singapore! And what I love to do the most to begin my day with, is to dress nicely, go to new hangout or eating places and just simply having a nice breakfast or brunch. This time, I would like to try finding cafe which I never been to. And I am hopping at a place around Tiong Bahru area, where cafes plus hangout places located according to the information from my sister. Reaching Tiong Bahru MRT, we would need to walk further towards Yong Siak Street. As we walk through, we pass by housing and HDB area in which I thought in my mind, who would open hangout places on the neighborhood area. Yet, we see some people are walking towards the same direction, well, from the appearance, it looks like they are going to the some hangout places. So to the sign that we are going towards the right direction. Reaching at Yong Siak Street, we see few cafes with variety choices. There are quite a few people around, not so much, but I bet this place will be crowded in the afternoon. We screen through to which place we would like to have our brunch at. What I like about the cafes in Singapore is, the edgy design of its interior architecture. Even though the food taste is quite standard, and sometimes I feel quite expensive, but I still like it simply due to the artistic feeling when stepping inside the place. Finally we choose PoTeaTo Cafe, from the look and feel, it seems like the food inside is quite affordable.

Finally I Found 'You'

Yeah, finally I found you, dear beautiful peacock. Ups, sorry for some readers who might expect for something else. :) Anyway, I was going through some of the old pictures taken last time, and I remember that I haven't post this one. This peacock is a normal sightseeing view when you are going Sentosa. Kinda sad, as I was waiting her (or him) to open up its tail, as it will make a beautiful plumage pattern. Hey peacock, next time you better open up your tail.. :)

A Glimpse of Singapore F1 Grand Prix 2013

Swruunng.....Swrung...Swruung.. (Trying to imitate sound from Formula 1 Car Machine) Oh, so noisy and so happening around here, what's going on? That was my reaction when I went to CBD area during last weekend. And then I realized that it was the sound of the cars' machine from Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix. Wohoo..! So excited I was, even though I was not inside the event, I could feel the spirit from far away. Though I could have imagined how uncomfortably noisy it was for the people who stays near the circuit arena. But still this is one of Singapore's big and important event. How can't it be, they have prepared this from a very long time, furthermore they were using public main road in the central city area as their circuit. So it really looked like the Singapore's government had paid a big attention on this. The barricade looked very strong and firm (of course it should, as they were using main road with tall office buildings along the way). Singapore F1 Grand Prix is a night race, hence they have also set very bright lamps, on the barricade along the circuit area. At night when all the lights were up, it was so cool, you could see the circuit route very clear from above.

Dinner at Charlie Brown Café, Singapore

After walking a whole day, what's more interesting than having a dinner at a nice restaurant on a beautiful evening. This time, me and my friend were hunting of this unique cafe with a well-known cartoon character theme concept from Peanuts. Although, I only familiar with one character, Snoopy, a Charlie Brown's pet dog. I wonder how my friend knows all of them. What I thought that eating at this kinda place will be quite pricey, then I saw there is a sign of 'There is NO Service Charge In My Cafe', how cool is that!

Sunday Brunch (Plus Dinner) at O'Coffee Club

What a nice weekend to spend in home, just sleeping the whole day, relax, watching movie from laptop, to rest for a while after 5 days continuously doing a hard work in office. So, as a result, I skipped my breakfast, and as well my lunch, what a lazy weekend day. And then I thought, how nice it is to go to the CBD (Central Business District) area in Singapore during this time to have a nice brunch and as well as dinner with my sister. As I know, only at this time there is less people and less activity around CBD site. Since there is almost no office activity around this area, practically very less people seen here on the weekends. So, we decided to go around Raffles Place. It was nice to wonder across to open air, it was a rare view in Singapore. Sadly though, some of cafe and restaurant around were also closed at the same time. Luckily, I found this nice cafe at a nice spot of CBD area, still open during weekend.

Hunting The Tintin Shop at Singapore

     Hi Readers!

Do you remember Tintin? Or are you one of Tintin's fan? I still remember reading comics of The Adventures of Tintin. I still even have the old collection of its comics, which is inherited from my cousin that time. Some of you might be not so familiar with Tintin, no problem, you can look into here and here. Recently, one of his adventure stories, which is The Secret of The Unicorn, has been made into a movie (you can see the trailer here). It was a very cool movie, and I thought the movie is more adventurous than the same story in its comics. If you would like to get the original collection of Tintin, or may be just want to get a glimpse of Tintin's collection, you can go to this shop, 'The Tintin Shop', located at China Town area, (56 Pagoda Street, Chinatown MRT, Singapore). You could find lots of the original collection of Tintin, from books, clothes, cards, etc. until the miniature of the characters / stuff inside the story. It's like I am going back to my childhood time!

Pulau Ubin Gateaway

It has been such a long time, to continue writing this blog. Yes, I was to busy with work and work and work. But recently, I had some weekday gateaway, exploring part of Singapore which I had never been to before, Pulau Ubin. Pulau Ubin is located at the north-east side of Singapore. To get here, we could alight at Tanah Merah Interchange, take bus no.2 to Changi Village.

In here, we can't expect clean water, as it has been polluted by oil from a big ship. But the view is still very nice. From Changi Point Ferry Terminal, we need to take a boat to Ubin Island, about 10 to 15 mins journey time. During the boat journey, we passed by big ships, also saw the Changi Sailing Club on the other side. I also saw, some people still used to do fishing around here. Felt the wind breeze, smell ocean water. What a different kind of feeling from a crowded Singapore city.

At Ubin Island, there is a lot of activities we can do. The most common that people will do is cycling. A lot of people do chalet as well with friends or family. In here, there are some temple we could visit as well. When I went here with my parents, we were just visiting temple in here, then we had some walk and drank a coconut water before finally head back to city.

One day at Changi Jetty, Pasir Ris

Singapore, a small little country, yet it offers a lot of things to explore. I have been here for quite some time and thought that I have known each part of it, but actually there is still a lot of things I have yet to explore. Like last week, my friends were asking me to go out on photography to Pasir Ris side, while I sort of remember that I have been to Pasir Ris, but I found out that I have not been to the place where my friends brought me to.

Singapore Botanic Gardens

I am not really into a gardening activity, but I could say this Botanic Garden, located in Singapore, is more than the average garden. From kids to adult, men, woman, girl, boy, and elderly, I could see all of them spending time here. Apart from picnic activity, I noticed that a lot of people do some other activity, like photography for example (like what I was doing there). I also saw some group of people were doing some orchestra and choir rehearsal, apparently, they would held an event that afternoon.

This garden is quite big. On the front area, it looks like a normal garden, with green trees, grass that covers green field, a little lake, some kind of birds, ducks, and a lot other things. Then, when I started to go further inside, I could see little waterfall, which I had never seen it before on other garden. I continued my walk a little bit  further, and then I discovered a hidden gems in this garden. I saw a white gazebo ~ white house, which I think is so unique, to have this kinda thing inside a garden. And I saw a couple is doing a wedding photography there, well, I think is not surprising to do this kinda activity at that white gazebo.

FrancFranc Official Opening at Vivo City

Originated from Japan, FrancFranc has been opening several shops in Singapore. It sells home furnishing products with a modern concept -casual stylish-. A reasonable price as they might say it, well, reasonable does not necessarily mean that it is cheap, but at least the price matches its design and quality. If any of you might know IKEA -originated from Sweden-, FrancFranc Singapore has a different concept in presenting its shops. IKEA Singapore has a homey concept, where it will bring shoppers from one room section to another room section, and at the same time show samples of a room design concept. At FrancFranc, it is also grouped per room sections, but they are more straight forward and does not have a sophisticated room design concept as what IKEA have. In my opinion, if you have such a whole day to shop around, I'll recommend IKEA. It is homey, also you can find the inspiration for your house, based on their room design concept. But, if you does not have much time to shop, FrancFranc would be the best choice, as you could easily find the things you need as compared to IKEA. Believe it or not, sometimes I'll find myself lost at IKEA. In terms of the price rate, it is not so different between them both, not so cheap but reasonable.

And recently, FrancFranc has just opened officially in Vivo City, with a VIP invitation only. My friend has the VIP invitation, and she invites me to come along...

Christmas, Christmas (part 2)...!

Hey Christmas, don't be late.. :)

So here we are, at Vivo City. As always, it was very crowded, especially on Friday night -yet I went that day-. They had lots of sales, from chocolates to Christmas decoration. Falling in love with the Christmas decoration, from small knick knacks to a Christmas tree (well, a small size also). As if I was about to bring all to my home, but I couldn't. So, to satisfy my 'needs', I was taking lots of picture instead.

Guess what, that night, there was a fireworks at Vivo City. I think that they were doing a trial for 2013 New Year countdown. The first time, me and my friends were being able to see BIG fireworks from such a near distance...

Christmas, Christmas (part 1)...!

...Christmas, Christmas time is near
Time for toys and time for cheer
We've been good, but we can't last
Hurry Christmas, hurry fast...
(lyrics quote: Alvin and The Chipmunks - Christmas Time is Here)

Smells Christmas, smells holiday! Holiday is yet to come!! I think, Christmas is one celebration that should not be missed throughout a year, no matter what is your religion. Singapore is always really into any celebration, and not only on Christmas. And it is always unique and happening. One place not to be missed during Christmas is Orchard Road. This year, Orchard Road chooses red as it's Christmas color theme. Though, if we've never take a look closely, It looks a bit similar to Chinese New Year theme~~. If I don't remember wrongly, last year's colour theme was blue, which made it looks more like Christmas. But one thing for sure, every year, the Christmas celebration at Orchard Road or any part in Singapore is always and must be happening.
